I know I haven't posted anything here in a really long time, so I thought I'd tell you what's been going on here--even if it's a bit boring. ;)

I'm getting over a bout with the flu. Lots of coughing, fever and chills early on, but it's getting better. I haven't been able to work out in a while, and I've missed it. Just don't want to start up again too soon. I've done that, and I had a relapse. I want to be careful so I get over this bug.

Speaking of working out, I'd been doing some Walk Fit and Walk Strong workouts. The Walk Strong workout uses hand weights, and I loved it, but I wanted something new. I finally got a DVD I'd been eyeing for a short time: Leslie Sansone's Walk Slim: 5 Really Big Miles. I haven't had a chance to try it yet. I got sick just after. I hope to start it later this week. There's another DVD I'd like to get, as well: Leslie Sansone: Ultimate 5 Day Walk Plan. And this: Leslie Sansone: Walk It Off & Tone It Up (2011). I just found out about her Walk By Faith series, a "Christian inspired workout series," too. Wow! :D Anyway, I plan to get back into the ones I have, at least. Some of the reviews for these, from actual users, are very inspirational.

I'm still writing, though not quite as much. I've hardly written anything since I first came down with the flu, but what I am working on, I'm having a lot of fun with. 10K Day is coming up next Wednesday, and I plan to put in as much time as I can in my AAU story, as that's the one I'm concentrating on right now.

We had bad storms come through this past weekend. There was a tornado in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. I think that's about an hour from us, maybe 45 minutes. That was the first one I'd heard about. I lost track after that, but I know there were a ton of them--over 120 tornadoes altogether. Anyone know of any companies that are hiring in areas that rarely/never get tornadoes? ;)

Jeff and I have started going over to Eric and Chelsey's place once a week to use their bandwidth and hang out with them. We're going twice this week, though. We're going to play some Dictionary Dabble with them tonight. :) I'll be downloading some episodes of Highlander: The Series and Full Metal Jousting while I'm there, too.

And I got a new phone--a Samsung Captivate Glide! I absolutely love it, but it's so tempting to go above and beyond the 300MB data plan. Thankfully, I can use Wi-fi when we're out, too!

Other than what I've mentioned, there's not really much going on here. Still roleplaying and having a ball with Lucky Raven, but I think Dakota has taken over as king. And then there's Doc, as well. I'm still kind of feeling him out, but I'm getting a good handle on his character. As far as which character's my favorite though? I'd have to say Dakota--by a long shot. He's becoming everything I envisioned him to be, and then some. I also need to do some work with Lucky, and I look forward to it, even if it will be slow going. :)

I've also started my own private blog over on Word Press. Just a place to vent and dream and other stuff.

I'd better go. I need to start getting my stuff together for tonight.

Have a good one!

The past eleven days have been good. The weather has been nice. No storms to cause us to run for the storm shelters, but it's been very hot and muggy.

My birthday came and went, and so did Josiah's. I took pictures at Josiah's party. Here are some: )
Josiah loves Dora the Explorer, and my mom got him a couple of Dora books, one of which had a music player included. He loved it!

And for my birthday, I got a Kindle from Jeff and my mom. My mom also got me a new slow cooker and an espresso machine. Eric and Chelsey got me a red dish drainer to match my other red kitchen things (I've been wanting this for a long time, so I'm really happy with it!) and some lilac candle tarts...and something else that's coming in the mail.

Speaking of the mail, I'd ordered a cook book for Chelsey, and it arrived in the mail yesterday...just in time for me to wrap it and take it over to the party! :D

We also went to the Farmer's Market yesterday morning. I bought some huge green onions and another small bottle of Goatie Girls Bug Be Gone lotion. My mom bought some snow peas, which I'll add to one of this week's meals, and a small loaf of Parker Pond Farms' Pumpkin Bread. The three of us (Jeff, my mom, and I) shared the bread over some drinks at Sweet Bay while I downloaded more of my Kindle library. :)

And after Josiah's party, we went grocery shopping. We spent a bit too much, but the important thing is that we put some weight on Jeff without buying the cheap, unhealthy crap you find everywhere. I've been fixing most meals in the slow cookers, and they're mostly healthy. I admit to using some cream of chicken in some of them. Next time, I'll get the fat-free kind so it's better for my mom.

Anyway, since I've been using the slow cookers a lot more, we've been having a lot more fruit and vegetables.

Speaking of...I need to write up an article, complete with photos, of the fruit salad I make, as well as the ensalata caprese, for Milli over at Fear of Writing. I'll try to post a link here once it's up.

Jeff's doing a lot better. He's still got some recovery left to go, but he's progressing well and is back at work. I just hope he doesn't overtax himself. Today's temp is hovering at 100°, and I'd hate for him to get sick!

He's also mostly done readying the hallway and part of the front entrance for painting. He just has to remove some wallpaper scraps, touch up with the primer, and then we can paint it. We bought the paint yesterday. :)

I haven't been doing much writing lately, but I've been working on a knit cardigan for myself. It's my first sweater, so it's a learning experience. I've had to scrap it three times (at least), and I have to undo about three rows and redo them. I hope I don't have to keep doing this. It's becoming a nuisance! :/

I plan to get back to my writing tomorrow.

Have a good one!

Storms!

We had some brief, very bad storms in the area a couple of hours ago. Chelsey texted me to let me know there was a wall cloud headed for Fort Smith, and she told me to watch the news. I went in to turn on the TV, but stopped before I got to it when I saw the wall cloud approaching. I grabbed my camera and got a few pictures.

Shortly after that, things got crazy for about a minute or two. The winds picked up considerably. I don't know how strong they were, but they were very strong. They pulled several shingles off our roof, took down one of our neighbor's trees, broke limbs off two others (all our trees are intact, thankfully), did some damage to a shed and an outhouse, etc.

We had some hail, but not the baseball-sized hail they were calling for. Here at our house, it was only pea-sized.

The rain was very heavy, and it was blowing from the east, hitting the back of our house. It was totally nuts!

When the wind got really bad, we went into the hallway. It's about as "interior" as we can get. If we'd had a tornado, I can't guarantee we'd still be alive. The straight line winds we had were almost as bad, though. We thought it would tear the house apart!

Anyway, I got piccies! :D I got more than the few posted here, and I'll try to post more tomorrow.

Thank God we are still here to tell about it!

Lois

On to the piccies...  )

As you know, we've had a lot of storms in our area lately...day after day after day of storms, in fact. We have a chance for more today and tomorrow.

But imagine my surprise and delight when the sun came out this morning (and it's still shining brightly)! :D
